Newly Designed U.S. Patent Cover Beginning with the 10 Millionth Issued Patent

On March 11, 2018, the United States Patent and Trademark Office unveiled a new cover design for the official physical copy of issued U.S. patents. The newly designed cover will first appear on U.S. Patent No. 10,000,000, which will be the 10 millionth issued U.S. Patent.

According to the USPTO, the patent cover has only been redesigned twice in the past hundred years and has had less than twelve designs since the issuance of the first U.S. patent in 1790. The current patent cover design has been in use for over thirty years.
